James W. Strahan
September 24, 1943 - March 15, 2022
James W. Strahan, age 78 and a resident of Slidell, died Tuesday morning March 15, 2022 at the Ochsner Medical Center in Slidell. He was a native and former longtime resident of Franklinton. James worked as an automotive technician for Miller Ford for many years. He enjoyed working on his own cars and continued to serve as a mechanic for many friends and neighbors through the years. James was a longtime member of Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church. He loved hunting and the outdoors, especially squirrel, rabbit and dove hunting. James liked to mow his grass and take care of his yard. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and grew the best tomatoes anyone could find.
Survived by: 4 Sons and Daughters in law: Russell Strahan of Lexi, MS, Ronald Strahan of Nevada, Kevin and Kristi Strahan of Lacombe, David and Chantel Strahan of Slidell; Grandchildren: Elizabeth Strahan, Emily Strahan, Elena Strahan, Brittney and D.W. Fillingame, Tristen Strahan, Sadie Strahan, Jacob Strahan, Austin Nelson, Branden Strahan, Trenten Strahan, Peyton Strahan, Eli Strahan, Xavier Strahan; 4 Great-grandchildren; Sister and Brother in law: Dorothy and Jimmy Jackson of McComb, MS; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Marsha Lynn Strahan, Sandra Strahan, Rocky and Linda Watson, Rusty Watson, Suzette Carter; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly Ruth Watson Strahan, parents Aslin Strahan and Geneva Thomas Strahan, brothers Ronald Wayne Strahan, Walter Strahan and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday March 21st from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Eld. Yancy Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
