Obituary

Sister Brenda Gail Tyner Cox

February 19, 1947 - February 18, 2022

Sister Brenda Gail Tyner Cox, age 74 and a resident of Franklinton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning February 18, 2022 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was born on February 19, 1947 in New Orleans. Brenda grew up and attended school in New Orleans where she also learned to tap and ballet dance. She then married the love of her life, Jerry Cox and moved to Washington Parish. The couple have been devoted servants as pastor and pastor’s wife to the Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church and its church family for 52 years, with the current building being established with God’s help in 1986. Sister Cox, as she was known to so many, was devoted to prayer and the spiritual needs of her church. She led 5:00 am daily prayer meetings, led the Faith Tabernacle Women’s Auxiliary, and inspired spiritual giving to countless church projects through the years. Sister Cox used the power of prayer, fasting, dreams, visions and prophecy to edify her church family and other Christian servants that she met, exemplifying the blessing of God’s grace. She was an excellent singer that performed often in church and revival services, showing her love of the Lord through the beauty of music and song. Sister Cox was an excellent cook and fed hundreds of visiting pastors and their families. She made the best turnip greens and an outstanding gumbo that her family always loved. Sister Cox was forever a loving wife, mother, grandmother, church member and friend to all that met her. She will be forever missed for her kind spirit, humble godliness and devotion to prayer.
