Wilvie Cox

March 5, 1939 - February 20, 2022

Wilvie Cox, age 82 and a lifelong resident of the Stoney Point Community, passed away Sunday afternoon February 20, 2022 at his home. He was a pillar of his community and an active member and longtime deacon of Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church. Wilvie was always committed to providing maintenance for the church and church grounds whenever it was needed. He was a true steward of God. Wilvie was retired after a long career as a cross-country truck driver, most recently driving a tanker truck for many years. He enjoyed gardening and working to keep his yard perfectly clean and maintained. Wilvie also enjoyed visiting with his friends and he loved game night at his sister Terry’s home. He most of all loved spending time with his family.

Survived by: Wife of 61 years: Alvee Sharkey Cox of Stoney Point; 2 Daughters and Sons in law: Stephanie and Delton Kennedy of Stoney Point, Kimberly and Jay Hunt of Pasadena, TX; Grandchildren and a Spouse: Hannah Graham Baldwin and Cody Baldwin, Tyler Delton Kennedy, Dakota Eugene Kennedy; Great-grandchildren: Makenna Denning, Madelyn Perez, Allen Baldwin, Ryder Baldwin, Stetson Baldwin; Brothers and Sisters in law: Kinell and Nancy Cox, Wayne and Dee Cox all of Stoney Point; Sister: Terry Smart and Ronnie Cothern; Sisters in law: Jean Cox, Hurmnee Stephens; Special Niece and Nephew: Malli and Johnnie Gore; Also numerous other nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his parents Leo Cox and Eloise McDaniel Cox, brother Harold Cox, granddaughter Janna Kennedy Denning, son in law Jason Wroblewski and several sisters in law and brothers in law.

Visitation will be at Stoney Point Missionary Baptist Church Wednesday February 23rd from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 12:00 pm with Bro. Everett Broome and Bro. Don McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
