Robert Smith

January 26, 1935 - January 26, 2022

Brother Robert Smith was born in Varnado, Louisiana on January 26, 1935 to the late Charles Smith and Trina Foster Smith. He transitioned to his Heavenly home on January 26, 2022 at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, LA.

He united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Louise Dunn Smith on December 1, 1956. To this union, four children were born. He was an amazing provider for his family. Rob was a farmer, which included log farming, cotton and gardening.

Later in life, he became an entrepreneur of two business. Smith Roofing and Smith and Son Trucking. He enjoyed taking family and friends on Friday night to the Fish House in Sheridan.  

Bro. Smith nickname was Lil Son which was affectionally called by many who new him. He enjoyed feeding his many cats and they always had the best of food.

Bro. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Smith and Tina Foster Smith; his sons, Robert Gustavus Smith and Louis Patrick Smith; one son-in-law, James “Bo” Weary; five sisters, Mildred Smith, Ovedia Holmes, Ester L. Martin, Louviena Young, and Laura Smith; three brothers, Perry Smith, J.C. Smith and Thoren Smith.

Bro. Robert Smith leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Louise Dunn Smith; two daughters, Evelyn L. Weary, Brenda (Stanley) Smith both of Varnado, LA; two grandchildren he helped reared, Trevon (Kenyatta) and Aungelle (Milton) Williams.

A drive through viewing on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4:00:PM – 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.

A funeral service on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 1:00PM at Mary’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Terrence August – Pastor Officiating.
