William Glen Fortenberry, Sr.

January 24, 1935 - January 27, 2022

William Glen Fortenberry, Sr., age 87 and of McComb, MS, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Walthall General Hospital in Tylertown, MS.

Mr. Fortenberry was born January 24, 1935 in Washington Parish, Louisiana. He was the son of Alton Earl Fortenberry and Bertile Ellzey Fortenberry.

Mr. Fortenberry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a retired school teacher from Pine, Louisiana and after retirement, he taught several years at North Pike Middle School. He enjoyed gardening and grew all their vegetables while raising their family and shared with their family and friends.

He was a member of Navilla Baptist Church.

Mr. Fortenberry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Faye Coon Fortenberry, of 56 ½ years; his parents, Alton Earl Fortenberry and Bertile Ellzey Fortenberry and a granddaughter, Charli Faye Fortenberry.

He is survived by his two sons, Glen Fortenberry and wife Jan, and Greg Fortenberry; one daughter, Gail Fortenberry all of McComb; his grandchildren, Kelley Norsworthy (Jared), Jason Duncan (Lori), Amy Fortenberry (Chris), Kevin Duncan (Courtney) and Morgan Johnson (Corbin); great grandchildren, Taylor, Abbigail, Alyssa, Tyler, Eli, Trista and Madison; one sister, Bobbye Fortenberry Dillon and special friends, Elaine Smith and James Rogers.  The family would like to give special thank you to the employees of Billdora Senior Care for their loving care.

There will be a graveside service Monday January 31, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Navilla Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro Trent Bilbo will officiate under the direction of Hartman Jones Funeral Home.

Mr. Fortenberry sincerely request that donations be made to Navilla Baptist Church in McComb.
