Leroy Joseph Mitchell

July 8, 1929 - January 28, 2022

Leroy Joseph Mitchell, age 92 and a resident of Franklinton, died Friday morning January 28, 2022 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Avoyelles Parish and former resident of Tickfaw that had lived in Franklinton for the last 30 years. Leroy was a longtime mechanic and member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and loved fishing any chance that he could. Leroy always loved spending time with his family.

Survived by: Daughter and Son in law: Wanda and Jerry Dyer of Amite; Grandson: Jerry Paul Dyer, Jr. of Hawaii; 2 Great-grandsons: Cody Dyer, Kyle Dyer; 2 Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Louise and Wayne Acken of Baton Rouge, Emily and Thomas Bates of California; Also numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Ella Margaret Gremillion Mitchell, parents Telisma Mitchell and Emma Bordelon Mitchell, 4 brothers, 5 sisters and numerous other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Monday January 31st from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church (1220 14th Ave., Franklinton, LA) from 11:00 pm until 12:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Tuesday with Father Kyle Sanders officiating. Entombment will follow in the Saint Joseph Mausoleum in the Colonial Cemetery in Independence, LA.
