Avie Jenkins Riles

June 16, 1934 - January 25, 2022

Avie Jenkins Riles, age 87 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away peacefully Monday evening January 25, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She worked hard, alongside her family, on their successful dairy farm for over 45 years. Avie loved taking care of her many dogs and cats and she loved to cook for her family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping and making floral arrangements. Avie was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survived by: Daughter and Son in law: Brenda and Shelby Jones of Franklinton

2 Sons: Perry Riles and Roberta Keller, John Eric Riles all of Mt. Hermon; 2 Granddaughters and a Spouse: Deanna Rechelle Hernandez of Mt. Hermon, Tracy and Dean Landry of Gonzales; 5 Great-grandchildren: Alex Hernandez, Hannah Hernandez, Dawson Landry, Davis Landry, Drew Landry; 3 Brothers and Sisters in law: Ray and Bertha Jenkins, Clyde Jenkins all of Covington, John and Nellie Jenkins of Shreveport; Sister in law: Evelyn Riles Holland of Vidalia; Also numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband J.W. Riles, parents Jesse Jenkins and Inie Fussell Jenkins, sisters Ella Mae Johnson, Osa Lee Frelou’, Evelyn Petree, brothers Charley Jenkins, Floyd Jenkins, Shelby Jenkins, Joe Jenkins, J.B. Jenkins.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday January 27th in the Mount Hermon Cemetery with Rev. Leroy McElveen officiating.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to her caregivers Suzette Carter and Teresa Creel for their loving support through the years and to the staff of Community Care Hospice for their care.
