Johnnie Lawrence Patterson

Johnnie Lawrence Patterson was born on August 7, 1944 in Franklinton, Louisiana, which is also where he resided at the time of his death on December 13, 2021.
He also maintained homes in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish but Franklinton was always where he called home. He was a cement mason, carpenter, general contractor, and owner and operator of his own cab service in New Orleans and surrounding areas for over 50 years. His passions included cooking, fishing, gathering with friends, and always being there for his family. He mentored many nephews and nieces, including Hendria Thompson and Shawn Patterson until his death. He was known for his reliability, generosity, wisdom, strength, and love. His love for people and Christ.
He leaves behind two sons, Lawrence (Quimberly) Patterson, and Johnnie (Tyra) Patterson; one sister, Lottis (Peter)Meuchelboeck and sister-in-law, Jeanette Patterson; four step-children, Phillis (Howard) Thomas, Debra (Charles) Guillory, Christopher Joseph, and Catina Joseph; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his long-time companion, Virgia Joseph Lewis; his parents, willie and Ora Patterson; seven brothers, Robert Patterson, Herbert Patterson, William Patterson, Richard Patterson, Alton Patterson, two unnamed brothers, nine sisters, Lillian Brown, Thelma Merrell, Iristean Hart, Vianne Patterson, Verlean Vortice, Geraldine Thompson, Ada Patterson-Horton, Audrey Smith, and Melba Kagler; a brother-in-law, Jefferson “Sonny Boy” Horton; a sister-in-law, Sadie Patterson.
Services will be at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana. A Viewing will be from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on December 19, 2021. The Funeral will be at 11:00 on December 20, 2021.
