Heyward Ard

November 1, 1937 - December 22, 2021

Heyward Ard, age 84 and a resident of Franklinton, died Wednesday evening December 22, 2021 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He worked as a mechanic and service manager for over 30 years for Bickham Motors, Verger Motors, Lynch Motors and later with Taylor Automotive in Franklinton. Heyward loved farming and taking care of his beef cows. He enjoyed riding and working on his tractor. Heyward also liked planting a garden each year and sharing the many vegetables with his friends and neighbors.

Survived by: Wife of 53 years: Elizabeth Wood Ard of Franklinton; Brother and Sister in law: Grady and Frances Ard of Hammond; 3 Sisters and a Brother in law: Gayle Collier of Covington, Voncille Adams, Edna Kaye and Brad Orman all of Franklinton; Brother in law and Sister in law: Arthur David and Christella Wood of Baton Rouge; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his son James Heyward Ard, parents Vernie Ard and Ruby Graham Ard, brother A.J. Ard and nephew Arthur David Wood, Jr.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday December 27th in the Hezekiah Magee Cemetery with Rev. Cecil Locke officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home (www.lumcfs.org / Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services; 904 DeVille Lane; Ruston, LA 71270).
