Obituary

Kathlean Short Baham

November 24, 1949 - November 12, 2021

Sister Kathlean Short Baham, age 71, was called to God to her eternal home on November 12, 2021, peacefully at home.  She stepped across the threshold we call death, but it was only a step into another room, one of the rooms in Our Father’s House.  She is at peace with God, rejoicing in His presence, for to be absent from one body is to be present with the Lord.

Kathlean was born to the late Curtis Short, Sr. and the late Bernice Short on November 24, 1949, in Quentin, Mississippi.  She attended Central Memorial High School where she graduated in 1969. She was a member of Sweet Beulah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. James Magee, Sr.

Kathlean was a dedicated former employee of Bogalusa Community Medical Center. Kathlean was very compassionate with caring for other and continued to instill her medical knowledge to her family and friends. She was certainly admired by all.  She had a great love for gardening, cooking, and animals. She loved to cook and feed her family and people in her community. Kathlean loved spending time with her family and cherished the time spent with her special aunt Adrean (Wille) Batiste.

Kathlean was a loving mother, nurturing and proud grandmother/great grandmother and a heartwarming aunt.

She leaves fond memories to celebrate her life three loving daughters: Chandra Baham of Covington, LA, Karen Baham of Mobile, Alabama, and Katrina Baham of Bogalusa, LA; one son: Brandon (Chequita) Short of Bogalusa, LA; one brother: Lindsey Ray Short of Bogalusa, LA; thirteen grandchildren: Marshayla (Sam) Jones, Kayla Baham, Thaddeus Baham, Quintisha Baham, Darryl Baham, JaQuarius Baham, Christeyona Baham, Antonique Baham and De’Maryon Levi all of Bogalusa, LA, Demetri Baham of Killeen, TX, Angellique Moses of Lake Charles, LA, Empriss Baham of Pearl River, LA and Anthony Moses, Jr. of Slidell, LA; sixteen great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Lucious Burnette; four special nieces: Kim (Aquinas) White, Robyn (James) Buckley, Vickie Burnette, Demetrius (Hendria) Thompson; three special nephews: Terry Burnette, Kerry Burnette and Jermain Lewis all of Bogalusa, LA, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kathlean was preceded in death by her parents Curtis, Sr. and Bernice Short; three brothers: Carlton, Tyronnie, and Curtis Short; one sister: Annie Mae Burnette; her paternal grandparents: Tom and Ella Short; maternal grandparents: Louis Gray and Annie B. Crockett; one great granddaughter: DaKasha Baham; and one special nephew: Calvin Short, Sr.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 11:00AM -1:00PM followed by the funeral service at 1:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa with Rev. Stanley Nathaniel – Officiating. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
