Lacombe Teen Threatens to "Shoot Up" School

A Lacombe-area 13 year-old juvenile was arrested Friday (October 22, 2021) morning after he reportedly threatened to “shoot up” his school. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were notified of threats made via Snapchat that a student planned to shoot up Monteleone Junior High.

Working together with school officials, the STPSO School Resource Officer assigned to the school was able to quickly identify the student who made the threats and determine that the student had not shown up for school on Friday. Deputies located the juvenile Friday morning at his residence. The teenager reportedly confessed to making the threats via social media.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on one count of Terrorizing.

“We have made it very clear that law enforcement and the school system will take threats like this seriously,” Sheriff Randy Smith said.  “We will continue to work with our schools and investigate any and all threats at our schools or to the students and faculty who attend them. Parents I urge you, to please speak with your children about the seriousness of actions such as these.”
