Mildred Miley Camp

June 17, 1930 - August 28, 2021

Mildred Miley Camp, age 91 and a resident of Franklinton passed away early Saturday morning August 28, 2021. She was born June 17, 1930 in Franklinton and was a graduate of Franklinton High School. Mildred touched the lives of countless young children as a second grade teacher for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System for 30 years before retiring back home in Washington Parish. She continued to work locally as a substitute teacher for many years. Mildred was an active member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton, where she was a member of the Senior Singers and taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the Fair City Homemakers and also volunteered with that group in Mile Branch Settlement at the Washington Parish Fair each year. She also served as a Pink Lady at Riverside Medical Center. Mildred enjoyed reading and cooking for her family.

Survived by: 2 Sons: Stephen Camp of Pride, LA, Cary Camp of Franklinton; Daughter and Son in law: Carol and Charles New of Madisonville; 8 Grandchildren and Spouses: Christopher and Angela New,

Clifton and Monica New, Catherine and Jonathon Peacock, Courtney New, Caleb and Brittany New, Connie New, Chad New and fiancé Lauren Baze, Carli New; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Shelby Camp, parents Hamp Miley and Bessie McNeese Miley, sisters Alma Carpenter, Viola Wehmeyer, Sadie Johnston, Mavis Creel and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday September 3rd from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Rev. Joey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the McNeese Cemetery.
