Myra Katherine "Kathy" Bridges

September 22, 1946 - July 14, 2021

Myra Katherine "Kathy" Bridges, age 74 and  a resident of Franklinton, died Wednesday morning July 14, 2021 at her home after a lengthy illness. As a child and early in life, she and her family traveled the world through her father’s Air Force service. Kathy spent time in Alaska, several years in Morocco and later in the Philippines, amongst other locations. She attended Louisiana Tech University and later completed her education at the University of the Philippines--Clark Air Force Base. Kathy continued her worldly travels as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines based in Atlanta, GA before retiring to Washington Parish. Kathy was an animal lover and cared for numerous pet cats and dogs that needed a good home. She enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers. Kathy also enjoyed visiting with her family, friends and people she just met at the Washington Parish Fair each year.

Survived by: Sister and Brother in law: Gloria and Freddie Leuenberger of Gulfport, MS; Niece and Nephew and their Spouses: Bridgette Hancock Walton and Tommy Walton, Matthew and Heather Hancock; Great-nieces: Hailey Hancock, Riley Hancock; Sister: Betty Butler Brock of Baton Rouge; Cousins: Walter Brock, Steven Brock

She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert Bridges and Eleanor Butler Bridges and her grandparents.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to her many caregivers through the years, especially Ynika Henry for her loving devotion to Kathy’s well-being.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Ellis Cemetery at 10:00 am Saturday July 31st.
