Obituary

Lonnie Lavelle Magee

September 29, 1968 - June 04, 2021

Lonnie Lavelle Magee died peacefully Friday, June 4, 2021 shortly after returning home from a dialysis treatment.  Although he suffered health issues, he was his witty and humorous self until death.  Lonnie never met any strangers.  He was one of five children and the youngest of all. 

He was a graduate of Franklinton High School, Class of 1988 where he played football and sang in the high school chorus.  After graduation, he worked numerous jobs that included Riverside Medical Center as a male orderly, a driver for the local ambulance service, Crain & Sons’ Funeral Home, Crawford Meat Packing, Burris Feed Mill (Cargill), his mom’s cafĂ© business, and International Paper where he was employed until his illness forced him to leave.

He leaves to cherish his wife, Gwendolyn Jefferson; two children, Willie Mckelphin & Leneishia “NeNe” Jefferson; 2 brothers:  Fessie Westbrook, Jr of Lafayette, LA & Donald Wayne Westbrook of Franklinton; one sister, Verlean “Tina” W. Randolph (Ronald) of Slidell, LA; one sister-in-law, Veronica Westbrook; and a host of biological and adopted nieces and nephew’s family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernell Magee and Charlean Anders Magee; maternal grandparents, Willie and Beatrice Anders; paternal grandparents, Edgar and Edna Magee; and one brother, Robert Charles “Bobby’ Westbrook.

A drive through viewing will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4:00 – 6:00 in Bogalusa at Crain and Son’s Funeral Home. His services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Sweet Rest MBC with Rev. Norwert Hills, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sweet Rest Cemetery in Franklinton.
