Rayford Denman Goings, Sr.

December 16, 1963 - June 13, 2021

Rayford Denman Goings, Sr., age 57 and a resident of the Plainview Community, died early Sunday morning June 13, 2021 at the Ochsner Health Center in Kenner after a lengthy illness. He was a longtime truck driver that drove cross country as well as local routes recently, always going by the CB handle “Possum”. He drove for Hunt’s, Steve Jones and most recently was hauling gravel for American Pride of Bogalusa. Rayford enjoyed baseball, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He also liked to process his own deer meat and make delicious deer sausage.

Survived by: Wife: Lisa Spinks Goings of Plainview; Children: Denman Goings, Jr. of Franklinton, Chris Reynolds of Alabama, Kimberly Goings, Tiffany Thomas both of Bogalusa, Stephen Spinks, Thomas Bowles, Jr.; 9 Grandchildren; Sister: Carol Stogner; Brothers and Sisters in law: Timothy and Dawn Goings, Donald Temples and Brenda Bates, Chris and Katherine Temples, Barry Temples, Douglas and Rhoda Graves; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his father Malcolm Denman Goings, mother Helen Penton King, sister in law Sherry Goings, brother in law Danny Stogner, nephew Alan Goings.

Visitation will be at Sheridan Jesus Name Holiness Church (52392 Hwy. 10, Franklinton) on Friday June 18th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Friday with Rev. Charles Ray Creel, Rev. Eric Creel and Eld. Don Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Morris Cemetery.
