A vehicle matching the description of the one being driven by Courtney Johnson, a Madisonville woman reported missing on June 24, 2021, has been located submerged in a body of water just off Interstate 10 in Mississippi.
Friday (June 25, 2021) morning, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives were searching for Johnson along the I-10 corridor in Mississippi when they observed an area where a vehicle had recently exited the roadway. Mississippi authorities were notified and began their search in the adjacent water. Shortly after 2:00 p.m., Mississippi authorities recovered Johnson’s 2016 Mazda 6, which appeared to have driven off the roadway. The car was found submerged in a body of water off Interstate 10 approximately eight miles from the state line. A body was located inside, but it is unknown at this time if the body is that of the 34-year-old missing woman.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into the fatal crash; However foul play is not suspected.
