Loranger Coach Accused of Assaulting School Principal

In the afternoon of March 30, 2021, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office responded to Loranger High School regarding a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation between Coach Michael Washington and the school principal, Gary Perkins. 

TPSO reports that the incident took place in an administrative office over a disagreement involving a training reimbursement. 

An investigation identified Coach Washington as the aggressor and determined that Washington physically assaulted Principal Perkins during the argument, knocking him to the ground.

Michael Washington, age 40 and a Ponchatoula resident, was issued a misdemeanor summons on the charge of simple battery.

No serious injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
