Bogalusa Council Meets - Calls Special Election & More

The Bogalusa Council met virtually Tuesday (March 2, 2021) evening, taking action and considering
numerous issues.

The Council 

  • approved a resolution calling a special election (October 9, 2021) for Bogalusa City Prosecutor, a position made vacant when David Merlin Duke was elected Bogalusa City Court Judge last year. The Council had previously approved the appointment of Bryan Harris as City Prosecutor until the election is held
  • introduced an ordinance for Postlethwaite and Netterville to provide Professional Accounting Services
  • introduced an ordinance authorizing the mayor to contract with Avenu Insights & Analytics, Inc. for the collection of occupational licenses and taxes
  • introduced an “Emergency Ordinance” that was really an amendment to the ordinance on the books regarding underground burials in the Bogalusa and Ponemah cemeteries. After almost 30 minutes of discussion, the Council approved the amendment allowing for exceptions to the ordinance on the books for those who purchased plots prior to 2017
  • held a public hearing and approved an ordinance to contract with Breaux Services, Inc. for disposal of sludge for $124,760.00

Mayor Perrette announced City Hall would re-open March 15th with restrictions and encouraged all to visit the City's Facebook page where community events are posted
