Obituary

Darryl Duane Peterson

October 14, 1957 - January 28, 2021

Darryl Peterson, age 63, husband of Deborah Adams Peterson, died January 20, 2021 in Bogalusa, LA. He was born on October 14, 1957 to Sarah and Eric Peterson. Darryl rededicated his life and actively served together with his beloved wife as an active member of Ben’s Ford Baptist Church.

He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1975. He also received several honors including an associate degree in Instrumentation. He was an Instrument Technician prior to his retirement from Temple Inland in 2008.

Darryl supported the Republican ideals and policies and believed in transparency in our local and state government. He was the Chairperson of the Washington Republican Executive Committee (WRPEC) for two terms. He was currently the Vice President of the Washington Parish Planning Commission. He networked and assisted with Republican candidates and Republican Women’s club projects. He was appointed a Super Poll Watcher by state candidates to patrol polling places.

He is survived by his wife Deborah Adams Peterson; his mother, Sarah Kitchens Peterson; two sons: Daron Peterson (Becca) and Flynt Peterson; two stepsons: Brock Adams all of Bogalusa and Barrett Adams of Denham Springs, LA; two brothers: Dr. Yancey Peterson (Chrishawn) of Roswell, NM, and Kitch Peterson of Wichita, KS; one sister: Krystal Peterson of Franklinton, LA; and two grandchildren: Lacey Rose and Ayelah Grace Peterson.

He lived life fully! He loved NASCAR racing as well as traveling and cruising around the world until he suddenly lost his battle with COVID-19. 

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home of Bogalusa will oversee his final arrangements. Due to current COVID-19 situation, mask and social distancing will be strictly observed. Rev. Lynn Martin, Rev. Caleb Martin, Rev Jimmy Byrd, and Rev. Travis Houston will officiate the service. Darryl’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021, from 1PM until time of service at 2PM at Ben’s Ford Baptist Church. Graveside rites will be held immediately following the service at Ben’s Ford Cemetery on Highway 439.
