Arthur David Wood, Jr.

September 21, 1969 - October 2, 2020

Arthur David Wood, Jr., age 51 and a resident of Walker, Louisiana died Friday morning October 2, 2020 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. David was a 1987 graduate of Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, where he was a star pitcher on the Crusaders baseball team. He then went on to pitch for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. David obtained a bachelor’s degree and worked for many years as a pipe designer for Ford, Bacon, Davis, LLC, an engineering and construction company. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery. David also enjoyed playing pool and watching Star Wars and old western movies.

Survived by: Wife: Stacey Hallgren Wood of Walker; Daughters: Rachel Wood, Christine Wood both of Walker; Parents: Arthur David Wood, Sr. and Christella Wood of Baton Rouge; Brother and Sister in law: Kevin G. and Jennifer Wood of Baton Rouge; Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Rosalind and Jim Devlin, Wendy and Wayne Roberts, Sr. all of Lumberton, MS; Nieces and Nephews and Spouses: Kacie Wood, Lisa Wood, Chloe Wood all of Baton Rouge, Wayne Roberts, Jr. and Jennifer Roberts of Georgia, Whitney and Bubba Sullivan of Lumberton MS; Grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Hannah, Lexie, Sam, and Aiden Roberts, Ty and Ryleigh Sullivan; Aunts and Uncles: Elizabeth and Heyward Ard of Franklinton, Joy Dawn Knapp and George Knapp of Port St. Lucie, FL

He was preceded in death by his first cousin James Heyward Ard, grandparents Bill C. Forbes and Marcella M. Forbes, Albert E. Wood and Myra Wood Sanders, uncle Billie David Forbes, father in law and mother in law Sven “Swede” Hallgren, Sr. and Shirleen Davis Hallgren, brother in law Sven “Swen” Hallgren.

A memorial service for David's family and friends will be held at the Bethel Temple in Baton Rouge on Wednesday October 7th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Thursday October 8th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Thursday with Bro. Jim Devlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hezekiah Magee Cemetery.
