Obituary

Homer Rodric "Rod" Lea

June 25, 1955 - September 15, 2020

Homer Rodric “Rod” Lea, a life-long resident of Kentwood, Louisiana, departed for his heavenly home on September 15, 2020 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, Louisiana. Born in McComb, Mississippi on June 25, 1955, he thoroughly enjoyed his earthly life of 65 years.

He retired from Tangipahoa Parish School System as a proud principal of Spring Creek Elementary School. He was a Sunday school teacher and member of East Fork Baptist Church. Being Paw Paw and spoiling his grandchildren was his favorite adventure in life. Visiting all around the community and town, telling stories, and giving nicknames were his favorite pastimes.

His life will be celebrated and forever remembered by his wife, Debbie; children, Roslyn Varnado (Josh), Alaina Pecoraro (Jonathan), Lori Priest (Slade); sister, Sheila Esch (Carroll); brother-in-law, David Hendrickson, sister-in-law, Patsy Lea; grandchildren, Leah Varnado, Audrey Varnado, Blythe Pecoraro, Rhett Pecoraro, Bentley Priest, Asa Claire Priest; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and his entire community.

Rod was greeted in heaven by his parents, Robert Nick Lea, Sr. and Blanche Dykes Lea; sister, Argrea “Sue” Hendrickson; and brother, Robert Nick Lea, Jr.

The family would like to thank North Oaks Medical Center for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM on Friday and from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Services conducted by Dr. Danny Smith and Bro. Tom Descant.

Interment will be at East Fork Baptist Church Cemetery in Kentwood, Louisiana.
