A Bogalusa 11-Year-Old Dies From Crash Injuries/Mother Arrested

On Sunday, September 13, 2020, just before 6:00 pm, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a serious injury crash on LA 21 south of LA 3124 in Washington Parish. One of the passengers in the vehicle, 11-year-old Jahni Green of Bogalusa, was ejected during the crash and transported to a local hospital. On September 15, 2020, Jahni Green succumbed to injuries he sustained in the crash.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that Narfseea Green was traveling north on LA 21 in a 2011 Nissan Versa. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Another child passenger, 4-year-old, sustained minor injuries. Narfseea Green sustained moderate injuries.

Troopers determined that Narfseea Green was over the legal limit of alcohol at the time of the crash; a drug toxicology test is still pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Narfseea Green on the following charges: Vehicular Homicide, Careless Operation, No Child Restraint, and No Seatbelt. She was arrested on September 22, 2020, and booked into the Washington Parish Jail.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to make good, safe decisions such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, obeying the speed limit, and avoiding all distractions which can often mean the difference between life and death. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children. Properly restraining children in age and weight appropriate car seats and/or seat belt systems could save their lives. Troop L is a grant-funded child seat fitting station. Nationally certified technicians are available every Tuesday from 2pm – 5pm, no appointment is necessary and this service is free. Ensure the safety of your child in the vehicle and get your seat checked.
