Leonard Beaushaw
December 2, 1933 - June 27, 2020



Leonard Beaushaw, living most of his life in Franklinton died late Saturday evening at home, following a lengthy illness, succumbing to pancreatic cancer June 27, 2020 at the age of 86. Leonard was born Dec. 2, 1933 in the rural community of Barton City, MI where he was raised, and loved hunting and brook trout fishing. He hunted all of his life, until falling ill, and was also a passionate fisherman. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-56 as a member of the Strategic Air Command, working as the crew chief on a refueling tanker. After basic training in Wichita Falls, TX he was stationed at McDill AFB in Tampa, FL with postings to Newfoundland, Bermuda, and Morocco. February 4, 1956 he married his wife, Clara Jo. Together they raised two children, Bill and Danetta. Leonard worked 33 years at Southern Natural Gas before retiring in 1996. Leonard developed a passion for the guitar and regularly gathered with friends to play, sing, and enjoy each others company, including playing at Mile Branch Settlement at the Washington Parish Fair each year. A lifelong Lutheran, he and his wife attended Fisher United Methodist Church and he often played his guitar at the nursing home for services the church conducted there.

Survived by: Wife of 62 years: Clara Jo Davenport Beaushaw of Franklinton; Son and Daughter in law: William Miley “Bill” Beaushaw and Jeannie Kaye Beushaw of Pearl River; Daughter and Son in law: Danetta Lyn Beaushaw and Andy Thomson of Houston, TX; Grandchildren: Derek Beaushaw and his wife Ada of Bay St. Louis, MS, Ripley Thomson, Brooke Thomson both of Houston; Great-granddaughter: Elise Beaushaw; Niece: Diane McGregor Shea; Cousins: Paul Wnuk, Mark Wnuk, Mike Wnuk, Nancy Wnuk Ceisla

He was preceded in death by his parents Duncan Beaushaw and Gladys Rifenbark Beaushaw and other family members.

Visitation will be at Fisher Methodist Church (41607 Hwy. 1056, Franklinton) on Wednesday July 1st from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Wednesday with Rev. John Chetta and Rev. Mark Juneau officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.

Pallbearers are his music playing friends Pete Williams, John Harris, Danny Harris, Ray Williams, Steve Jones, Billy Jones
