Obituary

Louquettie Lebo Burch
September 3, 1916 - November 28, 2019

On November 28, 2019, at the age of 103 years, 2 months, and 25 days, Louquettie Lebo Burch, our beloved matriarch, passed away at Heritage Manor Nursing Home of Mandeville. She was a lifelong resident of the Richardson community, a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church since the day she was saved on July 20, 1930. She was married to Joe S. Burch for 61 years and they had 4 children.

Some called her Aunt Quettie or Ms. Quettie, but most called her Granny. She was born in Tangipahoa Parish to Henry Alces Lebo and Edna Lambert Lebo, where she and her 7 younger siblings, Eunice Bahm, Ruthie Bahm, Willie Lebo, Woodrow Lebo, J.W. Lebo, Betty Kitt, and Claudie Lebo, grew up. Granny took special care of every one of her brothers and sisters.

She loved to cook and was known for her chicken and dumplings and fried chicken. If there was an event at the church, she was the first one there and the last to leave, simply because you couldn’t leave a mess in the Lord’s House. She retired from Riverside Medical Center after many years, where she was, of course, cooking in the cafeteria. Granny worked in her yard, gardening and picking figs, well into her late 90’s. She also enjoyed quilting and spending time with lifelong friends, Ms. Willie and Mr. Earl Wilkes, who would always drop by for coffee and plain cake.

She loved all of her family, but she had a special place in her heart for her Great-Granddaughter Harley Mae Folks, whom she adored and doted on.

She leaves behind one daughter, Jean Folks of Mt. Hermon, La., Grandson and daughter in law James “Tiger” and Dani Folks of Covington, La, and her favorite great-granddaughter, Harley Mae Folks of Hattiesburg, Ms., grandchildren Rebecca Miller Butler, Cedric and Charlotte Miller, Tom Walter Miller, Douglas Miller and the late Terry Miller, 13 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe S. Burch, and her children Durwood, Billy Joe, and Frances, her parents, siblings and their spouses.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday November 30th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will continue Sunday after 12:00 pm with funeral services in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday with Rev. Gerald Wright, Rev. James Kemp, Rev. Darryl Miller and Rev. Joey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers: Robin Burch, Rocky Burch, Sherman Burch, Jimmy Lebo, Ronnie "Bug" Schillings, Chuck Wilkes.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bob Smith, Mack Brown, Percy Rayborn, Mike Lewis, James Sorrell.
