Mildred Katherine Slocum born in Toxey, Alabama on April 30, 1936 and a resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away at her residence on Saturday morning surrounded by her family at the age of 83.
She is survived by her son, Doug Slocum of Bogalusa, LA; daughters, Carol (Lavon) Carrier of Bogalusa, LA, Rhonda Talley of Bogalusa, LA, Kathy (Charles) Burke of Bogalusa, LA; brothers, David Slocum of Bogalusa, LA and Glenn (Katie) Wells of Denham Springs, LA; sister, Dianne Strahan of Zachary, LA. Also survived by a dear and devoted friend of many years, Melvin Freeman of Bogalusa, LA. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Earl Slocum; daughters, Becky Slocum, and Lisa Slocum; brothers, Jerry Wells, Jr. Wells; and Bobby Wells; sisters, Becky Slocum and Lisa Slocum; parents, Fred and Esther Wells.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, 216 Alabama Ave., Bogalusa, LA on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the Pounds Cemetery, Bogalusa, LA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and again on Thursday morning from 9 A.M. until Service time at 11:00 A.M.
