Man Leads Slidell Police on Lunchtime Chase

Shortly before noon today (Monday, April 22, 2019), Devin Cousin (21) of Slidell led police on a
chase through the city, crashing his vehicle, fleeing on foot, and finally being caught.

At around 11:40 a.m., a Slidell Police officer attempted a traffic stop on Pontchartrain Drive. Cousin was asked to exit his vehicle on a man driving a green Honda Accord for a traffic violation. The man, identified as 21-year-old, Devin Cousin but he refused and fled the scene. Cousin led officers on a chase throughout the city, ultimately ending at the intersection of Highway 11 and Brownswitch Road.

Cousin crashed his car into a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, disabling his vehicle. Cousin continued his attempt to evade officers by fleeing on foot. Cousin was caught a short time later and was taken into custody. Cousin was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and the driver of the white Jeep Grand Cherokee was treated for moderate injuries. Throughout the chase, Cousin struck two other vehicles, both of which sustained minor damage.

Cousin was booked on the charges of Aggravated Flight from an Officer, First Degree Vehicular Negligent Injury, 3 counts of Hit and Run, and Failure to Use a Turn Signal.
