Katherine Rose Kennedy
March 29, 1928 - February 17, 2019



Katherine Rose Dixon Kennedy, age 90 and a resident of Covington, died early Sunday morning February 17, 2019 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. She was a former longtime resident of Franklinton. Katherine was a registered nurse and the director of the Washington Parish Health Unit for over 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton, where she taught Sunday school for many years and started the exercise class for her peers. Katherine enjoyed dancing and, alongside her husband, participated in square-dancing events throughout the area. She loved reading and traveling, especially her favorite Branson, Missouri. Katherine had a special place in her heart for her pet Shih Tzu “Zoe”.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Barry Ray and Edna Kennedy of Franklinton; 2 Daughters and Sons in law: Katherine Janis Lewis of El Dorado, AR, Rebecca June and Ron Legere of Mandeville; 6 Grandchildren and Spouses: Mary Catherine and Cade Corbell of Tulsa, OK, Claire and Nathan Gerston of Springfield, MO, Brendan Ross of Austin, TX, Barry Jason and Amanda Kennedy of Houma, LA, Jeremy Ray and Ali Kennedy of Camby, OR, Justin Scott and Emily Kennedy of Franklinton; 3 Great-grandchildren: Graham Floyd Gerston, Connor Francis Kennedy, Annie Rae Kennedy; Brother and Sister in law: Vance and Marlene Wascom of Abita Springs; Sister: Shirley Cisario of Bogalusa; Nieces and Nephews: Nicole and Eduardo Menendez and their children Jose and Miguel, Lance and Taura Wascom and their children Fiona and Jude; Cousins: Elaine Smith and her sons Donnie, Jeff and Rusty, Glyn Brown and David and Robert

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Kennedy, grandson Colin Kennedy Ross, son in law Dr. Floyd Lewis, Jr., father Lusher Dixon, mother and step-father Frankie Bickham Wascom and Denver Wascom, sisters Linda Pounds, Joan Wascom, brother in law Frank Cisario, other family members Rueben and Blanch Smith, Pat Smith, Diane Smith, Dave Brown, Doug Brown.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday February 19th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Wednesday with Dr. Joe Baugh and Rev. Joey Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Crain Cemetery at Stateline.
