Troopers Arrest Kentwood Man for Hit and Run

Yesterday (January 13, 2019), Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A arrested Jacob H. Stewart (26) of Kentwood man for hit and run driving, narcotics violations and various other charges
for causing a crash on I-12 and fleeing the scene on the evening of November 4, 2018.

The investigation began shortly before 6:00 pm on November 4, 2018, when Troopers were notified of a two-vehicle crash on I-12 westbound near Satsuma Rd. When Troopers arrived, a driver stated that her vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle and that the driver of the vehicle her handed her his Louisiana ID card before fleeing the scene on foot. However, he left his vehicle on the shoulder of I-12.

Troopers determined the driver of the vehicle was Stewart. A search of the vehicle revealed a syringe filled with a substance Troopers believed to be narcotics. The syringe was submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis, and the contents were determined to be Methamphetamines. Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Stewart.

On the morning of January 13, 2019, Troopers located Stewart at a residence in Baton Rouge.
