Linda Jean Harper
December 29, 1946 - December 7, 2018



Linda Jean Harper of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed in peace Friday, December 7th at the age of 71 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge with her family by her side.

She was born on December 29, 1946 in Franklinton, Louisiana to Newton Joseph Barber and Dorothy Barber . She is survived by her husband, James Douglas Harper. The two married on December 27, 1966 at Springhill Baptist Church in Franklinton, Louisiana and enjoyed 52 blissful years of marriage together. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Kay Jones and her husband Gerald Jones; brother-in-law Johnnie Mack Harper and his wife Paula Harper and Edwin Harper and his wife Paula Harper; two children, Christie Harper Freshwater and her husband Scott Freshwater and Kevin Neil Harper and his wife Michelle Harper; five grandchildren, Cade Thomasson, Chris Thomasson, Jonah Beals, Kai Harper, and Tara Harper.

She was described as the hub that kept the spokes of the family together. Cooking for her family was what she loved to do, and she didn’t know how to cook for two, only twenty, so she made sure everyone left her house with a full stomach and more to bring home. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and the Lord loved her back.

A memorial service will be held Sunday Dec 9th 4pm at Parkview Baptist Church, 11795 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Funeral services will be held the next day, Monday Dec 10th at 11am, at Crain Funeral Home, 1109 Bene St, Franklinton, LA 70438. Internment will follow at Springhill Magee Cemetery.
