Louis Alex "Chubby" Carrier, Sr.
June 28, 1930 - April 01, 2018


Louis Alex “Chubby” Carrier, Sr., age 87 and a life-long resident of Bogalusa, passed away on April 1, 2018, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital.
He served on the Bogalusa Police Department for 28 and ½ years and retired as Assistant Police Chief in 1980. He was a Board Member of the Louisiana Municipal Employees’ Retirement System for ten years. He was a LPOA and MPOA member and The Retired & Disabled Police of America member. He also served on the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Department. He served in the United States Army in the 307th Military Police Unit and 4005th ASU Unit.
He was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, a Master Mason of Center Lodge No. 244 F & AM of Bogalusa, and a member of the American Legion Post 24.
He is survived by his children, Carol Renee Williams (Joe Ard) of Bogalusa, Louis Alex “Chuck” Carrier (Joan) of Bogalusa and Rhonda Lynn Jenkins (Roy) of Montgomery, Texas. His grandchildren are Christopher Todd Williams (Debbie) of Bogalusa, Jennifer Alanna Williams Warren (John) of Sandy Hook, MS, Stephen Roy Jenkins (Xing Xing) of Seattle, Washington, and Paul Bryan Jenkins (Leigh) of Naperville, Illinois. His great grandchildren are Christopher Seth Williams, Emma Grace Williams, Jessie Grace Williams, Daniel Ard Warren, Denali Jenkins, Acadia Jenkins, Yoshiho Jenkins, Kazuho Jenkins, Jack Jenkins, Drew Jenkins, and Rhett Jenkins.He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Pittman and Jo Ann Mitchell (John), and a brother, Rodney Carrier of Bogalusa, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dale Seal Carrier; his parents, Gilbert and Myrtis Carrier; his sisters, Velma Graham, Doris Narretto, Ollie Smith; his brothers, Elbert “Blinker” Carrier, Sidney Carrier, Olin Carrier, and Gary Carrier. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jo Cathy Carrier.
Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Masonic service at 6:30. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. and continue until time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Pete Underwood will officiate. Interment to follow at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Bogalusa American Legion Post 24 presenting military honors.
