Eleanor Glynn Bigelow Applewhite
April 13, 1927 - December 11, 2017



Eleanor Glynn Bigelow Applewhite, age 90, a resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Rest Haven Living Center in Bogalusa, LA. She was born on April 13, 1927 to Halbert and Ollie Bell Bigelow. Glynn married the love of her life, Albert Applewhite on March 30, 1946. She was a member of Monroe Street Baptist Church. She worked at Sears in Bogalusa for many years. She loved their camp and fishing on the Gulf Coast. And she was elected Mardi Gras Queen in 2017 at Rest Haven Living Center.
She is survived by three daughters, Darylene (TA) Gillespie of Tupelo, MS, Raydine Raborn, and Sheila Glover of Crossroads, MS; a son, Dwaine Applewhite (Carolyn) of Bay St. Louis, MS; a sister, Peggy Wallace of Bogalusa, LA; a sister-in-law, Betty Bigelow of Varnado, LA; three grandchildren, Kim Raborn, Chastan Bickham, and Krissi (Tyler) Hunt; eleven great-grandchildren, Leslie(Chaz) Piazza, Ethan Rester, Aric Dunaway, Ashley Applewhite, Gage Glover, Halle Glover, Avery Glover, Dane Glover, Maggie Hunt, Addie Hunt, and Ty White; three great-great-grandchildren, Emma Sharp, Cade Piazza; and Zoe Piazza; also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Applewhite; her parents, Halbert Bigelow and Ollie Bell Schillings Bigelow; two brothers, Halbert "Buddy" Bigelow, and Jerry Bigelow; five grandsons, Billy Ray Rester, Jr., Dwaine White, Daryl Rester, Jonathan Glover, and Robert Applewhite; and a great-grandson, Billy Ray Rester, III
Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 P.M. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 P.M. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chad Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
A very special thanks to Travis and Denise Thomas for always being there for our Mother.
