Man Arrested After Threats Made Against Slidell Church

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Dusty Gerchow (37) of Slidell area man for terrorizing after he made threats to kill members of the Slidell's Open Arms Ministry Church.
After the threats were reported on Tuesday (December 19, 2017, patrol deputies investigated along with members of the Crisis Intervention Team. An Order for Protective Custody was obtained and Gerchow was taken into custody and transported to a facility in St. Charles Parish to be evaluated. Following a criminal investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Terrorizing on Gerchow. A search of his home located a cache of weapons and ammo, along with body armor.
Gerchow was associated with the church and known by the congregation and the pastor. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has dealt with Gerchow in the past regarding disturbances and reports of erratic behavior on his part.
Gerchow has been released from the facility in St. Charles Parish, was placed in the St. Charles Parish jail, and will be returned to St. Tammany at a later date.
