Obituary

Emily Lee Blackburn
September 07, 1943 - September 09, 2017



Emily Blackburn humbly gave a silent sigh and went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the age of 74. She was a graduate of Central Memorial High School and attended Grambling State University.
Emily united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church at an earlier age. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful, dedicated member, and of the Usher Board, Mission Society, and Bible Study.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons: Jarvis (Shelia) Blackburn of Cedar Hill, TX, Cedric Blackburn of Dallas, TX, and Donald Brown, Jr. of Dallas, TX; mother, Jessie Hendricks Blackburn of Bogalusa, LA; three sisters: Rosie Johnson of Bogalusa, LA, Marie B. (Alvin) Archie of Slidell, LA, Nelda Faye (William) Mathis of Dallas, TX; and one brother Warren Blackburn of Lafayette, LA; four grandchildren: Jarvis A., Johnarvis, Jordan Blackburn, and De-Angelo Peoples, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emery Blackburn; sister Lillie Blackburn; brothers: Rogers, Emery, Jr. and Kermit Blackburn; maternal grandmother, Rosie Brown; brother-in-law, Glenn Johnson; sister-in-law, Geraldine Washington Blackburn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 837 E. 7th Street  in Bogalusa, LA 70427 with Elder Christopher Matthews, Officiating.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
