Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that Benjamin Joseph Carter, Sr. (28) of OBR Highway in Hammond was taken into custody on Monday July 3, 2017 and charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of a nine-month infant.
Deputies responded to the Hammond residence around 3:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon regarding an unresponsive infant. Deputies arriving at the scene immediately attempted to revive the infant but their efforts were not successful. An investigation into the child’s death led detectives to the accused.
