The Washington Parish Council met in regular session Monday (June 12, 2017) and, in addition to acting on routine matters,
- heard from Reginald J. Laurent, candidate for Judge, Division “H”, 22nd Judicial District Court (beginning 2:10 into video of the meeting),
- heard from resident Phillipp Bedwell with a suggestion regarding the criminal justice budget (beginning 27:30 into video of the meeting),
- heard from resident Donald Long requesting council members attend Fire Protection District meetings (beginning 28:40 into video of the meeting), and
- heard reports from Parish President Richard Thomas and his staff. (beginning 29:30 into video of the meeting). Finance Director Donna Graham reported that the Era-Leader would be the Official Journal and that the 2016 audit was completed and the auditor would report on the results on June 26, 2017. Public Works Director Leo Lucchesi reported on renovation of the upstairs area in the courthouse and provided updates on the DOTD Road Transfer program and the bridge to culvert program. Transportation Manager Donnell Merritt reported on work performed by road crews.
After further comments by President Thomas and questions from the Council, the meeting concluded with comments from council members.
