Thursday Afternoon Train Crash in Slidell

Around 2:00 p.m. Thursday (June 29, 2017) afternoon, Slidell Police responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a Kansas City Southern train.
The incident started when a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Thomas Dunaway (59) of  Slidell was involved in a minor accident. The accident caused the vehicle to spin off of Gause Boulevard and onto the railroad tracks. Around the same time, a southbound train was quickly approaching the intersection. Dunaway was able to safely get out of the vehicle before the train crashed into the rear of the Crown Victoria. No one was injured during the incident.
The accident had the busy intersection of Gause Boulevard and Front Street shut down for about an hour.
