Frankie L. Gehringer, Jr.
May 12, 1932 - June 09, 2017


Frankie L. Gehringer, Jr., born in Kentwood on May 12, 1932, slipped the bonds of this Earth on June 9, 2017 and went to be with his Heavenly Father. He was a wonderful husband and a great father and grandfather. He had a busy life. He was an Eagle Scout and a Navy Pilot. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and was a math teacher. He was a rural mail courier, Fire Chief, and served with the Kentwood Volunteer Fire Department for 60 years. He served as President of the Kentwood Lions Club and was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a teacher and deacon. He was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Fay Gentry Gehringer; daughter, Jennifer Gehringer; grandchildren, Lauren and Gavin Gehringer; and niece, Nan Gehringer Davis and husband, Rodney, and their children, Kyle and Scott. Preceded in death by son, Frank Gehringer, III; parents, Frank L. Gehringer, Sr. and Estelle Rhymes Gehringer; mother in law, Mildred Gentry Miscar; brother and sister in law, Dr. Gerald and Myrtle Lee Gehringer and his nephew, Ab Thomas (Dooley) Gehringer. Visitation at First Baptist Church, Kentwood, from 6 PM until 9 PM on Monday and from 9 AM until religious services at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. Services conducted by Rev. Joe Baugh and Dr. Danny Smith. Interment Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood.
