Jackie Orr McVea
December 31, 1939 - May 26, 2017



JACKIE ORR MCVEA, AGE 77 and a resident of Franklinton died at 9:50 pm Friday May 26, 2017 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. She was the valedictorian of Pine High School Class of 1957, where she met and then later married her high school sweetheart. Together they moved to San Diego, CA where she began teaching elementary education. She later moved to Baton Rouge and completed her education degree from LSU before then moving to New Orleans. Jackie returned to Franklinton in 1966 and continued to teach for several years throughout the parish school system. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton where she taught ladies Sunday school classes for many years. Jackie was also a longtime active member of the Shasta Club and she enjoyed traveling with her family, often to the mountains and other parts of the country.
Survived by: Husband of over 58 years: Conrad “Butch” McVea, Jr. of Franklinton; 4 Children and Spouses: Conrad “Chip” McVea, III and Angela McVea of Franklinton, Janet McVea Williams and Stephen Williams of Bellaire, TX, Jay McVea of Panama City Beach, FL, Casey McVea of Cottonport; 5 Grandchildren: Jacob McVea, Seth McVea and his fiancĂ© Mary Lago, Jack Williams, Martin Williams, Scott Williams; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Tom and Toni McVea of St. Francisville, Walker and Kathy McVea of Clinton, Fran McVea of Baton Rouge; Also numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jake Orr and Beola Barber Orr and a sister Sybil Orr.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church Monday May 29th from 10 am until 2 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2 pm Monday with Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Washington Parish Activity Center.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Living Center for their care and support.
