Franklinton Police Department Issues April Stats

Franklinton Police Chief Olander Smith provided his department's stats at the Franklinton Board of Aldermen meeting on April 25, 2017. Information provided actually include the period of March 28 to April 25 of 2017. The report reflected a total of 766 Calls for Service, divided into the headings of Public Assistance, Traffic, and Criminal Patrol.
Responses for Public Assistance included general complaints (282), extra patrols (43), medical calls (28), alarms (37), and suspicious persons or vehicles (28).
Traffic activity included traffic stops (85), vehicle crashes (19), hit and runs (5), reckless operation (10), and citations (64). No DWI's were reported for the period.
Criminal Patrol responses included disturbances (34), fights (6), simple battery (3), burglaries (3), theft and shoplifting (11), narcotics (7). Officers made 33 total arrests.
Chief Smith also reported that

  • officers are receiving on-line training in Police One Academy,
  • officers have been working extra seatbelt enforcement and have upcoming checkpoints for underage DWI enforcement and Buckle Up In Your Truck campaigns,
  • Sgt. Chad Dorsett spoke at Head Start about general safety, 911 use, and safety belt use, and
  • Sgt. Brad Eckert spoke at Building Blocks day care and gave a tour of the unit, 911 service, and safety belt use.
