Shortly before 3:00 AM on Saturday (May 6, 2017), Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L were responded to a fatal pedestrian crash on US 190 near Fontainebleau State Park that , claimed the life of Slidell resident Lucien Joseph Barbarin (34).
Troopers determined that Barbarin was lying across the westbound lane of US 190 when he was run over by a truck was driven by Paul William Olsen, Jr. (49) of Mandeville. Barbarin sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Troopers suspect Barbarin was impaired at the time of the crash. Troopers obtained a voluntary breath sample from Olsen that resulted in a blood alcohol concentration of .085 grams percent.
Olsen was arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail for Vehicular Homicide of Lucien Joseph Barbarin.
