Shira Easley
April 11, 1941 - February 28, 2017

Shira Easley, a resident of Kentwood, passed away at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at St. Helena Parish Hospital. She was born April 11, 1941 in St. Helena Parish and was 75 years of age. After attending college at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, she moved to Baton Rouge, where she was employed as an accountant/bookkeeper. For most of her professional career, she was employed at Kean’s Fine Dry Cleaning, formerly known as Red Stick. She was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir, Bible Study groups, taught Sunday School for many years, and participated in the Women’s Ministry. She thoroughly enjoyed studying God’s word and sharing it with others. She had many friends. She was also a Red Cross Chaplain, volunteering for many disaster relief operations in the southern and western regions of the United States. Upon retiring, she moved back to her hometown of Kentwood and became a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
She is survived by her 2 sisters, Vera Macaluso and Carolyn Easley; 2 nephews, Michael and Timothy Macaluso; 2 nieces, Karyn Babeaux and Kristin Norman; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Louise Schwartz Easley; sister, Barbara Easley and brother, Larry Easley.
Visitation at New Zion Baptist Church from 9:30 AM until religious services at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Interment New Zion Cemetery, Kentwood.
