Bogalusa resident Theresa P. Keller came before the Bogalusa Council Tuesday (March 7, 2017) and leveled charges of racism against the City's leaders with the goal of turning the black community into a ghetto. Following Keller's over twelve minutes of prepared comments, Mayor Wendy Perrette refuted the charges. The Mayor, stating she was “appalled” at the charges, said she was working “for us all” and that the City of Bogalusa has moved forward from the past.
It is not an uncommon theme expressed at Bogalusa Council meetings. Racism has been alleged during deliberations about paving of city streets, provision of city services, votes by the Council, and the recent promotion of Kendall Bullen as Chief of Police.
COME ON, BOGALUSA! Much has been and is being done to improve city finances and make Bogalusa a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Work together.
