The Washington Parish Council, in a unanimous vote Monday evening, appointed Lori Schilling from Ward 2 to the Riverside Medical Center Board of Commissioners to fill the vacancy created when Rachel Gill's term expired December 31, 2016. The Council had two applicants to consider, Lori Schilling and Rachel Gill. (See video beginning at 10:05) The appointment is the latest in other new commissioner appointments made recently. Richard Watts (from Ward 1) and John Edward Nichols (from Ward 6) were appointed December 19, 2016.

- heard from Washington Parish Library Director with information about expanded services, events, and training. (beginning 4:30 into the video)
- appointed Jerome Warren to the Washington Parish Planning Commission.
- heard from Merlin Duke with a reminder that the parish would celebrate its Bicentennial in 2019.
Chairman McMasters announced that, following the Council meeting on February 27, Public Participation is invited as the council reviews the Home Rule Charter.
