Obituary

Betty B. Franklin
January 20, 1948 - February 16, 2017



Betty Jean Brumfield Ross Franklin, age 69 and born in Kentwood, peacefully took her eternal rest on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
She was the 4th child born to the late Genie and Veter Burkhalter Brumfield on January, 20, 1948.
At an early age she professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Silver Creek (now Union Chapel) African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She attended and was a graduate of O.W. Dillon High School. After graduation, she joined the United States Navy where she served as a payroll clerk. After faithfully serving her country, she relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana where she worked as an electronics technician for South Central Bell for 30 years. She joined and became an active member of Historic St. James A.M.E Church where she served as a Steward, a member of the Early Morning Mass Choir as well as the Missionary Society.
She was united in holy matrimony to Emile Oliver Ross on June 20, 1981. To this union, two children were born, Ashley Nicole and Allyson Nichole Ross. She later married Alvin Franklin on June 22, 2007.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Genie and Veter Burkhalter Brumfield; her daughter, Ashley Nicole Ross; and sister, Shirley Mae Brumfield Reed.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Alvin Franklin; daughter, Allyson N. Ross; six step children, Jeffery Ross (Kirtrell), Wanda F. Ross, Lori Ross Weber(Keith), Derrick Ross, Alicia Clark Scott(Burton) and Evan Franklin; two sisters, Elnora Brumfield Warren and Mary Jane Brumfield Hill (Bobby); 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Visitation is scheduled Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 am at Historic A.M.E. Church, 222 North Roman Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.
A Visitation is also scheduled Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Union Chapel A.M.E. Church, 23012 Silver Creek Road in Kentwood, Louisiana
