Obituary

Johnny Ray Weary

August 29, 1950 - November 13, 2020

Retired United Stares Army Veteran, SP4 Johnny Ray Weary, aka "Fats", is the youngest twin Son born to the late James (Junior) Claiborn, Margie Weary-Harris and step-father John R. (Jl) Weary.  He was born August 29, 1950, in Bogalusa, Louisiana.  He received Christ and was baptized at an early age.  He was a servant member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Varnado, Louisiana under the pastoral leadership of the late Dr. Alphonso Nelson for many years then current pastor, Dr. Byron Muse.  Johnny Ray Weary is a life-long pillar in the Varnado community where he resided until his passing.

As a young  Solider, SP4 Johnny Ray Weary (Fats) was stationed in the !st Infantry Division in Fort Riley Kansas 5th US Army and served in the Vietnam War.  He received several noble metals including:  The national Defense Service medal, two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharpshooter (M_16 Rifle) and Vietnam Campaign medal W/60 DVC.  He served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1976.

He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories, the  beloved mother of his children, Arlene Weary; three daughters: Rachel Weary of Abita Springs, LA, Arlendra Shantel (Aubrey) Montegue of Covington LA, Shanita Weary of Bogalusa, LA and a son Kenneth Robinson of Bogalusa, LA.  His legacy will be remembered forever by his ten grandchildren: Imani Robinson, Myron Weary, Caston Bolton, Tariq Zenon, Mary Robinson, Kayden Curtis Weary, Rance Weary (RJ), Jeremiah Daigle, Cayleigh Magee, and Kaylan Stewert; three sisters, Juanita Spikes of Varnado, LA; Estelle (Lee) Jones of Los Angeles, CA and Edwina Greely of Bogalusa, La, two Brothers: Ellis (Doris) Weary, and his twin, Johnny Ree Weary (Black) of Bogalusa, LA along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends near and aboard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Junior ) Claiborn, John R Weary (JL), Margie Weary-Harris; his Son Rance La'Ray Weary, Grandmother, Udine Lawson; three Sisters: Karen Hines, Arnell Daniels, Mary Caiborn; three brothers James Earl McArthur, Billy and James earl Claiborn and four infant grandsons.

Visitation was on November 20, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana followed by a Family Gathering from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on November 21, 2020 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Angie, Louisiana.
