Linda Harry Haaga

January 27, 1942 - November 26, 2020

Linda Harry Haaga of Bogalusa, LA passed away on November 26, 2020 at the age of 78.  She was the beloved wife of Valentine Emile Haaga, Jr. Loving mother of four children, Heidi Haaga Little (Todd), Kevin Christopher Haaga, Michelle Haaga Palmer (Wayne), Jason Emile Haaga, and two special family friends who were like sons to her Dickie Earley and Joey Angulo.  Daughter of the late Victor and Vera Harry. Sister of Jerry Thompson (Jeanell) of Opelousas, LA.  Grandmother of three wonderful grandchildren, Lauren Little, Victoria Palmer, and Olivia Palmer, as well as her loving Shih Tzu, Miss Jessie.  She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  

She had a deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as she read the scripture every day.  She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and a former member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  She is now one of God’s Heavenly Angels.

In the summer of 1961, she met the love of her life, Val.  In the spring of 1962, Val asked the love of his life to marry him and they shared 58 wonderful years together.  Her children and grandchildren were the greatest joy in her life.  After her children were in school, her passion for helping others led her to pursue a degree in nursing.  She worked as a nurse at Rest Haven Living Center, Parkview Medical Clinic and the Washington Parish Charity Hospital where she retired in 1999.

She was a member of the Bogalusa Country Club’s Golden Girls who were close friends and very dear to her heart.  She loved to garden, with morning glories, petunias and Easter lilies being some of her favorites. She spent most nights doing her crosswords and sudoku puzzles.  Her famous Macaroni and cheese, a staple at all family gatherings, will never be matched and forever missed.  She loved to travel with family and friends.  Some of her favorite places were the beautiful beaches of Florida, Hawaii, Mexico, Bora Bora, the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.  She also enjoyed the Cirque du Soleil shows and slot machines in Las Vegas.  She was always described by her friends as the sweetest person they know, a characteristic she inherited from her wonderful mother. 

A special thanks to Brookside Rehabilitation staff, especially Brittany and Danica, as well as Solace Hospice staff, especially Jo-L, and Blueberry Hill Personal Care Home, with a special thanks to Leigh Greer and staff.

Service will be at Annunciation Catholic Church on Monday, November 30, 2020.  Visitation will be from 9:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass.  Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.    Wayne Palmer, Rick Brown, Joey Melancon, Duane Billings, Randy Pritchard and Ron Mangeni will serve as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Little, Dickie Earley, Mickey Bergeron, Wilton Dunaway, Jimmy Simmons, and Ken Harry.
