Obituary

Melba Louise Kagler

January 06, 1943 - October 20, 2020

"For I am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith". II Timothy 4: 6-7

Melba Louise Kagler, affectionately known as (Louise/Weezy), was born January 6, 1943 to the late Willie and Ora Patterson. She was one of seventeen children.

At a young age she accepted the Lord as her Savior and was a member of Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She then moved to New Orleans, La where she joined Third Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. When she returned back to Franklinton, LA with her family, she joined Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church where she was a member until the Lord called her home. She served faithfully as an Usher and the Mother of the Church. She was passionate about cooking and she made it her livelihood by working in the food industry and she retired from Riverside Medical Center Dietary Department. Louise will be remembered for her nurturing, encouraging and inspiring spirit.

Her remarkable endurance in maintaining a strong faith, remaining humble and in all things always giving praise and glory to God. Louise loved gospel music, coffee and sharing the word of God.

She married the late Elmo Kagler Jr., and to their union were born three children.

She leaves to cherish her memory Her daughter Lisa Kagler, Franklinton, LA, Aaron Kagler, Little Rock,AK. A loving niece that she raised; Faith Patterson-Green(Jerome Green,Fresno, TX).  10 grandchildren; Cierra Myers (CALI), Stephen Magee Jr, Shane Magee, Ashleigh, Alexis, Kiandra, Destiny, Demile Kagler, Tre'Andra and Trinity Patterson; 8 great grandchildren. Two loving sisters Audrey Mae Smith , Katy, TX, Lottie Meuchelboek(Peter), San Antonio, TX. One dear brother Johnnie Patterson, Franklinton,La and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband; Elmo Kagler Jr., her son Shay D. Kagler, her seven sisters; Lillean Patterson-Brown, Verlean Vortice, Iristean Patterson-Smith, Gerald Thompson, Vianne Patterson, Thelma Merrel, Ada Mae Horton. Three brothers; Robert Patterson, Herbert Patterson, William Patterson, Alton Patterson and two brother who passed at birth.

Visitation was from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on October 23, 2020 at Cook Richmond Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana. The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM on October 24, 2020 at Outreach Full Gospel Baptist Church in Franklinton.
