St. Tammany Traffic Stop Leads to Cocaine Arrest

Sunday morning (August 23, 2020), Troop L Troopers arrested Guillermo Espinoza of Juarez, Mexico, and Consuelo Marmolejo of Sunland Park, New Mexico after they were found to be in possession of narcotics during a traffic stop on I-12.

Just before 10:30 am, Troopers stopped an eastbound 2020 Dodge Durango for a traffic violation on I-12 in St. Tammany Parish. During the course of the traffic stop, Troopers became suspicious of criminal activity and requested consent to search the vehicle. Upon doing so, Troopers discovered approximately 7.3 kilograms of suspected cocaine inside.

Espinoza and Marmolejo were arrested for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and booked in the St. Tammany Parish jail. Bond was set for Espinoza in the amount of $600,000 and Marmolejo in the amount of $200,000.
