Obituary

John Hines Schilling, Sr.
February 7, 1935 - December 14, 2017

JOHN HINES SCHILLING, SR., AGE 82 and a resident of Pine, died Thursday morning December 14, 2017 near his son’s home in Texas. He was a member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church and a longtime electrician for Industrial Electrical. He was an ordained Baptist minister and a proud numismatist, meaning he loved collecting coins and other monetary items. He had an extensive collection of these rare and historical pieces. John loved his independence and enjoyed country living, even down to his favorite food, the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Survived by: 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Greg and Lacy Schilling of Bedias, TX,; John H. Schilling, Jr. and Brenda Schilling of Magnolia, TX; 3 Daughters, Sons in law and Grandchildren: Terri Gray and her 3 children of New Caney, TX, Beth and Curt Plummer and their 3 sons, Rebecca and Donald Vickers and their 2 daughters all of Ohio; Other grandchildren and a Spouse: Kali S. Hurst and Dustin Hurst, Jamie Schilling; Great-grandchildren: Jaeger Hurst, Gentry Hurst, Lawson Hurst; Brother: Guyvon and Glenda Schilling of Franklinton; Sister and Brother in law: Josie and John Breland of Pine; Sister in law: Betty Schilling of Dear Park, TX; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Guy Schilling and Minnie Lou Woodward Schilling, brothers Theodore “Ted” Schilling, Jr., Darrel Schilling, Dwight Schilling, Jim Schilling, sisters Zettie Scrantz, Pearl Schilling and an infant sibling.
Visitation will be at Pine Missionary Baptist Church (27098 Hwy. 62) on Wednesday December 20th from 10 am until 1 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1 pm Wednesday with Bro. Lynn Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Schilling Cemetery. A fellowship meal for the family and friends will be held at the church hall immediately following the cemetery service.
