Slidell Man Indicted for Rape of 12-Year-Old
District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that a St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted Shawn A. Doucette (33) of Slidell on Tuesday (November 13, 2018) with two counts of first degree rape of a victim under 13.Doucette is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl on at least two occasions between October 1, 2016, and April 13, 2017.
Assistant District Attorney Ysonde Boland presented the case to the grand jury.
Slidell Man Re-Indicted in Teen's Death from Synthetic Marijuana
District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that a St. Tammany Parish grand jury re-indicted Jamie D. Cooper (34) of Slidell on Tuesday (November 13, 2018) with second degree murder in the death of a teenager found unresponsive in a Covington ditch after smoking synthetic marijuana. The new, superseding indictment added a charge of distribution of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance (marijuana or a synthetic form).Cooper is accused of distributing the drug through a middle man to the 17-year-old, who died after using it on March 13, 2016.
Angie Man and Carriere Woman Indicted in Auto Parts Theft Operation
District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that a St. Tammany Parish grand jury charged Dustin Ray Hughes (32) of Angie and Sharon D. Snelgrove (38) of Carriere, Mississippi with racketeering and multiple theft charges for an alleged operation that used account information from one company to make fraudulent purchases from another.Hughes, a former employee of Southern Electric Company, is accused of placing fraudulent orders with O’Reilly Auto Parts on multiple occasions with account information stolen from Southern Electric. More than 1,000 products, valued at between $20,000 and $25,000, are alleged to have been obtained fraudulently from 14 jurisdictions over two states. Snelgrove is accused of assisting Hughes by obtaining and transporting merchandise that she knew was stolen.
Both are charged with the following: one count each of racketeering, seven counts each of theft of items valued at $1,000 but less than $5,000, two counts each of theft of items valued at less than $1,000, and one count each of misdemeanor theft (Class 4, less than $1,000).
Assistant District Attorney Butch Wilson presented the case to the grand jury.
Former Sun Police Officer Indicted for Malfeasance
District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that a grand jury indicted Jacob Scott Walker (36), a former Sun police officer, on Tuesday (November 13, 2018) with two counts of malfeasance.Walker is accused of pocketing money he collected from traffic tickets for his own personal gain between February 8 and August 13 of this year. Walker also is accused of failing to submit narcotics evidence to the crime lab for analysis after a traffic stop on December 18, 2017, and then lying about it.
Assistant District Attorney Ken Dohre presented the case to the grand jury, and D.A. Investigator Walter “Nick” Burtanog, IV, investigated it.
19-Year-Old Bogalusan Killed in Crash on LA 10
Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded Tuesday night (November 13, 2018) to a
single vehicle fatal crash on LA 10 approximately six miles east of LA 62 in Washington Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 19-year-old Cristal Camacho (19) of Bogalusa.
Troopers to determined that the crash occurred as Camacho was driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger eastbound on LA 10. As the vehicle entered a left-hand curve, it exited the right side of the roadway and crashed into a pine tree.
Despite being properly restrained, Camacho sustained fatal injuries in the crash. She was pronounced deceased on-scene by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office. Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash.

Big Turnout for The Wall That Heals Arrival in Franklinton
Despite the cold and overcast skies, Franklinton saw large crowds to welcome the arrival of the replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D. C.. Franklinton will be among the first to host this exhibit which includes a three-quarter scale Wall replica that is 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point. The exhibits tell the story of the Vietnam War, The Wall and the era surrounding the conflict, and are designed to put American experiences in Vietnam in a historical and cultural context.

4-Year-Old Shot in Hand – Aunt Arrested
Fredrica Lee (25) of Slidell was arrested Monday (November 12, 2018) after her 4-year-old niece she was caring for shot herself in the hand. Lee did not call 911 or emergency medical services but transported the child to a local hospital herself. The injury was non-life-threatening.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the local hospital shortly in response to the incident that occurred at a residence on Parkline Boulevard in the Slidell area. Lee told deputies she was caring for her niece at the residence when she heard a gunshot from the living room area of the residence. Lee learned the child had retrieved a loaded handgun from a cabinet located in the living room and had discharged the weapon.
A search warrant was executed at the residence, during which time detectives observed the cabinet where two guns were reportedly stored prior to the incident. The firearms were loaded and easily accessible to the child. A spent shell casing was recovered from the living room.
Based on the investigation, Lee was arrested on one count of Cruelty to Juveniles, The child was released in to the custody of her father.
